Sales tax collections up in all area counties

ALBANY – Local sales tax collections
rose in all Hudson Valley/Catskills with Sullivan County showing the largest
percentage increase from 2013 to 2014 with a gain of 6.1 percent.

Columbia County came in second with a six percent increase. That was followed
by Dutchess County with 4.9 percent growth, Rockland County with a 4.8
percent increase, Putnam County with a 4.7 percent rise, Westchester with
a gain of 3.2 percent, Greene County with 1.2 percent growth, Orange County
with a 0.8 percent gain and Ulster County with a 0.2 percent increase.

Westchester took in the most sales tax revenue in 2014 with $503.8 million,
followed by Orange County with collections of $260.7 million, Rockland
County with $194.6 million, Dutchess with $174.1 million, and Ulster with
$103.4 million.

Putnam County collected $55.8 million in sales tax revenues in 2014, followed
by Sullivan County with collections of $35.8 million, and Columbia County
with $35.7 million. Greene County collected $28.9 million in sales tax
revenue.
