NANUET – Clarkstown Police are investigating the passing of counterfeit $100 bills in three different locations in Nanuet over the weekend.
A woman passed a counterfeit $100 bill for a balance due at a local bank on Route 59. An unknown person passed two $100 bills at a local gas station on Route 59 and a man passed a counterfeit $100 bill for payment of cab fare to a taxi driver on North Pascack Road.
Police do not believe the incidents are related but ask all merchants to verify the authenticity of money being accepted for payment.
Anyone who has a bill that appears to be counterfeit should contact the Clarkstown Police Department at 845-639-5800.
