Biggest snow yet hitting region

MID-HUDSON – Snow has overtaken the region with a winter storm warning in effect until 6 p.m. Monday with eight to possibly 12 inches of snow predicted, according to the National Weather Service. Snow will fall one to two inches per hour starting Sunday night and becoming heavy at times before daybreak on Monday and continuing heavy at times into the early afternoon.
The snow will taper off to scattered snow flurries late Monday afternoon into the evening.
High temperatures on Monday are expected to be in the low to mid 20s. Winds will be northeast from 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 20 mph.
By Sunday night, schools began announcing closures for Monday.
