WAPPINGERS FALLS – The Dutchess County SPCA partnered with Lost Paws, Inc. to spay or neuter 182 feral cats in Wappingers Falls.
PetSmart Charities provided the $11,000 to cover the cost of the treatments, which included the surgery, treatment for ear mites and vaccinations. Lost Paws provided the volunteers, cat food and transportation.
“Over several years, Lost Paws, Inc. and the Dutchess County SPCA helped trap, neuter and return about half of all feral cats in Wappingers Falls,” said SPCA Executive Director Jackie Rose. “These funds helped us to bring that number to nearly 100 percent and to truly improve life for the cats and all the people in that one community.”
