MONTGOMERY – A Wappingers Falls man has been arrested on felony charges for allegedly stealing a woman’s debit card and racking up over $2,100 in purchases and ATM withdrawals from stores and ATM machines in Orange County.
Arachchige Jayakodi, 37, was arrested following an investigation into the reported theft and use of the card on January 15.
The victim told State Police she had given a man a ride to a Target store in the Town of Newburgh. That’s where her debit card was first used unlawfully.
Jayakodi went on to make purchases and cash withdrawals totaling $2,187, police allege.  He was charged with the felonies of grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property and sent to the Orange County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or bond.
