Two drug raids net seven arrests in Newburgh


NEWBURGH – A pair of drug raids in
Newburgh resulted in the arrests of seven people.

City detectives and Anti-Crime Unit officers executed three search warrants
on Wednesday, January 21 at 222 Broadway and 18 Benkard Avenue targeting
marijuana sales.

Five people were arrested on charges ranging from marijuana possession
to misdemeanor drug possession.

A total of 230 grams of marijuana with a street value of $1,200 was seized.

On Friday, January 23, a search warrant was served at 196 Parmenter Street
targeting heroin and cocaine sales. Police seized 54 decks of heroin weighing
1.4 grams and 6.7 grams of crack cocaine with a total street value of
both of $940.

Charged with felony and misdemeanor criminal possession of a controlled
substance were James Boykin, 25, and Tamara Johnson, 34, both of 196 West
Parmenter Street.
