MONTICELLO – A Monticello man is in the Sullivan County Jail without
bail following his arrest on a charge of illegal gun possession.
State Police conducted a traffic stop Thursday on West Broadway in Monticello
and found the driver, Nelson Martinez, 47, in possession of a loaded .22
caliber revolver with the serial number filed off. He was also found in
possession of heroin.
Martinez was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon
as felonies and misdemeanor drug possession.
He was remanded to the county jail pending a future court appearance.
