CARMEL – Two New York City residents were arrested by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Narcotics Enforcement Unit following a month-long investigation into heroin sales.
The drugs were being imported to the county from New York City; undercover deputies were able to infiltrate and buy heroin on five occasions from one suspect and one time from the other.
Investigators also set up controlled deliveries where large amounts of heroin were delivered to locations in Putnam. The first controlled delivery netted more than a half-ounce of heroin in 236 glassine bags. On four other occasions, 190 glassine bags of heroin were delivered.
Arrested were Tiquan Lewis, 29, and Donnell Norman, 25, both of New York City.
They were both charged with criminal sale and possession of drugs and sent to the Putnam County Jail.   Norman‘s bail was set at $500,000.  Lewis is held without bail.
