NEW WINDSOR – To say New Windsor Town Supervisor George Green is hot under the collar over the state’s selection of just one location in the region for a casino, and not look at the Greenetrack proposal near Stewart Airport would be an understatement.
At the 11th hour before the gaming board was to consider the Southern Tier for a fourth casino location, Green blasted Albany. The Empire Resorts project at Kiamesha Lake is the one the location board chose for the Hudson Valley/Catskills.
Green remains solidly behind the Greenetrack proposal, which would pump much needed funding into the economically disadvantaged City of Newburgh.
“They need the jobs, they need the economic benefit. Southern Tier – to be very crude about it – give me a break!” Green proclaimed.  “How can any reasonably thinking person compare the needs of the Southern Tier with the City of Newburgh and this area of Eastern Orange County.”
Green said the City of Newburgh is one of the most depressed cities in the country and placing a casino near it would provide a much needed economic shot in the arm.
