NEWBURGH – Greenetrack, the company that wanted to  build a casino and resort near Stewart Airport, is going to ask the state to consider it for a fourth casino license that has yet to be designated.
One each has been chosen in the Hudson Valley/Catskills, the Southern Tier and Capital District. The project selected for this area is Empire Resort’s Kiamesha Lake plan.
Greenetrack officials asked the City of Newburgh to lend its support to the local project, something Mayor Judy Kennedy acknowledged Monday night is a long-shot.
“If there is any kind of opportunity for this to happen, it spins around the City of Newburgh,” Kennedy said. “I doubt it is going to work, but if there is a one percent chance that it would work, we can sign a letter of support for them with that idea that they would, in fact, agree to put some money in the City of Newburgh’s coffers.”
The governor just days ago said he wanted the fourth casino site selected, but with concentration on the Southern Tier.
