Treanor: Not giving up

ELLENVILLE – As the state is about to reconsider assigning a fourth
gaming license, and specifically in the Southern Tier region, the communities
of Ellenville and Wawarsing have not given up in their effort to secure
approval for the Nevele hotel as a gaming location.
Both municipal boards went on record Monday night calling on Albany to consider Ulster County, and specifically the Nevele, for the additional license.
Nevele Investors’ chief Michael Treanor told some 100 residents who packed village hall Monday night that he has not given up the fight.
“What could be better than anchoring the Catskill region to the east and west with Monticello and Ellenville, and that’s the whole reason for all the work that every person here has put in,” Treanor said.
The Empire Resorts’ project near Monticello has been selected as the sole casino location in the Catskills-Hudson Valley region.
With the state gaming board meeting this evening (Tuesday), Treanor said this was the Nevele’s last chance at being considered. But, he said a new group called RatPac Entertainment, has stepped forward at the 11th hour proposing to bring the Nevele back to the Rat Pack Era as a neo-art deco property.
