Mallory to throw hat in mayoral ring

POUGHKEEPSIE – Poughkeepsie Common Council Alderman Robert Mallory, Jr. will run for mayor. His formal announcement will come next Saturday.
Common council members and the mayor have term limits and cannot serve more than eight years in one position. Mallory’s council time is up at the end of this new year. He served as council chairman last year.
He becomes the second Democrat to announce for mayor. School Board Member Randall Johnson announced last year.
Mallory has his agenda in place.
“I will be focusing on crime, blighted buildings and neighborhoods, economic development, our youth, shared services and community engagement,” he said.
No Republicans have formally announced; however, Dutchess County Legislature Chairman Robert Rolison has expressed interest in running.
