Arlington fire forces six out into the cold

TOWN OF POUGHKEEPSIE – The Arlington Fire District was dispatched for a house fire, with a report of occupants trapped, at 13 Vandewater Avenue, shortly after 5:30 Thursday afternoon. 
First arriving units were on scene within three minutes and encountered a working structure fire at a single family residence that also spread to two vehicles, one camper, and a neighboring home.  The four occupants inside the home were able to escape. 
Firefighters quickly extinguished and prevented major damage to the adjacent home, vehicles, and camper.  The fire in the main structure was under control within approximately 25 minutes. 
One occupant and one firefighter sustained minor injuries but did not require hospitalization.  Cold weather, wind, and icy conditions presented difficulties for personnel at the scene. 
The six occupants of the main structure were displaced and receiving are assistance from the Red Cross.
