PORT JERVIS – City Police assisted by members of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Group executed simultaneous Port Jervis City Court issued search warrants at two separate residences located in the City’s 4th Ward early Wednesday morning. The residences were located at 110 Ball Street, second floor apartment, and a first floor apartment at 137½ Ball Street,
Three individuals were subsequently arrested and charged with narcotics offenses stemming from their alleged involvement in a heroin distribution ring operating in Port Jervis and surrounding communities.
Tyrone Dunbar, 28, of 110 Ball Street, was charged with one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal sale of a controlled substance both felonies. Dunbar was found in possession of 60 individual bags heroin.
Also arrested were Nellie Helfritz, 43, and Christopher Steele, 56, both of the same address. They are charged with one count of Criminal Possession with intent to sell. A search of the residence yielded 25 individual bags of heroin.
In addition to heroin, police also seized undisclosed amounts of United States currency and drug paraphernalia at the residences. A motor vehicle used in making narcotics deliveries was also seized.
Dunbar, with two prior felony convictions, is in the Orange County Jail without bail. Helfritz and Steele were jailed in lieu of $15,000 cash bail each.
