WHITE PLAINS – An analyst for the state Department of Labor sees job growth for the entire Mid-Hudson/Catskill region when the Empire Resorts casino-resort in Kiamesha Lake is built and opened.
John Nelson said the project will mean a great many new jobs in several counties.
“You have a project of that magnitude being brought about in our region, it’s definitely good news for job seekers in the area,” Nelson said. “Definitely it is going to improve the overall employment picture, not only for Sullivan but for the whole region, especially the neighboring counties that are closest to Sullivan County.”
The multi-million project is ready to move ahead once the state issues the final paperwork. The casino is expected to be up and running in two years after that.
