Liberty couple arrested after burglary investigation

LIBERTY – The new year was off to a bad start for two Liberty residents when they were arrested by Liberty Village Police after an investigation into a residential burglary.
Police began an investigation on December 26, 2014 when a resident reported their home had been broken into on Christmas day and several items including an AR-15 rifle had been stolen.  Police executed a search warrant on an apartment in the village in the early morning hours of New Year’s Day and recovered all of the stolen property including the rifle.
Daniel Doty was charged with burglary, grand larceny and criminal possession of a weapon, all felonies, and possession of burglar’s tools as a misdemeanor. He is in the Sullivan County Jail without bail.
Kaitlin Doty was charged with criminal possession of stolen property and was issued an appearance ticket returnable to Liberty Town Court.
The Sullivan County District Attorney’s Office assisted in the investigation.
