Widespread outages affecting Facebook and Instagram

MID-HUDSON – Users of social media platforms Facebook and Instagram, both owned by Meta, are experiencing large-scale problems today (Tuesday).  As of 11:00 am, there have been nearly 600,000 reports of American users being unable to access Facebook, according to DownDetector.

Seventy-five percent of the reports are login issues related to Facebook.  More than 75,000 Instagram users are reporting issues with the app, saying the page cannot be refreshed.  The Messenger app has more than 11,000 reports of login issues at DownDetector.

Meta issued a statement on their rival’s platform “X”, formerly Twitter, that they are aware of the access issues,  their spokesman Andy Stone said.  “We are working on this now”.
