Former Ulster sheriff’s HQ gets new life

KINGSTON – Ulster Federal Credit Union has moved into the former Ulster County Sheriff’s headquarters in Schwenk Drive in the City of Kingston.

Credit Union President Rick Mantey said his company spent $1.5 million to renovate the 7,800 square foot building.

The building houses a branch office and all administrative and executive offices.

The credit union, which employs 38 people, also has branches in Saugerties, Town of Ulster and Ellenville. The former headquarters, on Washington Avenue has been closed.

The Ulster Federal Credit Union was established in 1940 as the Ulster County Teachers Federal Credit Union.
