Ulster man’s body found at base of quarry

CATSKILL – State Police Monday found the body of William Dunn, 18, of Church Road in Saugerties in 25 feet of water at the base of a large quarry in Town of Catskill on the Holcim Cement Plant property off Route 9W.

Dunn’s body was located a short distance from where he was last seen by friends at 2:30 a.m. on Sunday morning. Dunn had been camping with several friends on the top of the cliffs overlooking the quarry. State Police do not believe foul play was involved in his death.

An autopsy was scheduled.

State Police at Catskill were assisted in the investigation by Greene County Sheriff’s Department Marine Patrol, State forest rangers, Greene County Emergency Services, Catskills Fire Department and several volunteers that assisted in the search.
