Woman arrested on drug charges

LAKE KATRINE – A Lake Katrine woman has been arrested following an investigation into drug sales at 133 Penstock Lane at the Watermill Townhouses in Lake Katrine.

The URGENT task force arrested Brenda Martinez, 44, of that address for allegedly selling heroin there. Police arrested her in front of her residence where she had in her possession a quantity of heroin and cocaine, police said. A search of her townhouse revealed packaging material with drug residue and other drug paraphernalia.

She was charged with drug possession in the fourth and seventh degrees and criminal use of drug paraphernalia in the second degree.

Martinez was arraigned and remanded to the Ulster County Jail with no bail. The investigation is continuing and police said further charges are likely.

Another person was questioned at the scene and released.
