Two charged with falsely reporting shooting  

LIBERTY – State Police at Liberty have arrested two people for allegedly reporting a manufactured shooting assault.

A man and woman went to Catskill Regional Medical Center to report an unknown man had shot the man while in the Town of Fallsburg.

Police investigated and determined that Troy Allen, 24, of Monticello, had shot himself in the leg while handling a stolen handgun. He sustained a minor injury, police said.

Allen and Desiree Smith, 18, of Binghamton, were charged with falsely reporting an incident in the third degree.

Allen was also charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree and criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree.

Allen was committed to the Sullivan County Jail without bail and Smith was remanded on $25,000 bail.
