Arrest in hunting knife stabbing

BETHEL – A South Fallsburg man has been charged with first-degree assault for allegedly stabbing another man with a hunting knife.

State Police said Juan Perez was also charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree.

He was charged with stabbing a 27-year-old man with the knife, causing severe bleeding and serious injury. The incident occurred on Hurd Road in the Town of Bethel. The victim was flown to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla.

Perez was charged at the Liberty State Police barracks. He is being held in the Sullivan County Jail without bail.

Assisting State Police were the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office and Town of Bethel Constable.
