Yess calls for summer tax cap

ESOPUS – Republican State Assembly candidate Robin Yess of Esopus Wednesday called on the Assembly majority Democrats to pass a cap on school property taxes this week before they recess for the summer.

In 2006, as founder of the NY Property Tax Reform Coalition, Yess obtained hundreds of signatures supporting bipartisan legislation in both the Assembly and the Senate that would ease the school tax burden for homeowners.

"As the school year comes to an end, we must give all Hudson Valley residents the peace of mind that their property taxes will be capped next year," said Yess, who is challenging 101st District Democrat incumbent Kevin Cahill of Kingston.

"The Assembly has one week left in its legislative session before they head for the beaches and their top priority should be relieving the burden of excessive property taxes by passing a tax cap just as Governor David Paterson and Nassau County Executive Tom Suozzi have urged," said Yess.
