| Kingston woman charged with 18 counts of animal cruelty |

KINGSTON – For the second time in days, authorities have lodged charges of animal cruelty in Ulster County. Ulster County SPCA kennel manager Adam Saunders told MidHudsonNews.com Wednesday that Judith Latimore of 32 Tompkins Avenue in Kingston was arrested and charged Tuesday evening with 18 misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty. She had been evicted from her home in April after it was condemned, said Saunders. “They appeared to have been abandoned in the building for about a month but the owner was stopping by to at least feed them,” he said. “They weren’t starving, but hygienically the building and the animals were in a little bit of a mess.” The animals, including 12 adult cockatiels, a newborn chick, four cats and a pit bull, remained at the house and she was given permission to return to feed them. The animals were in relatively good health, said Saunders. Last Friday, a Town of Ulster woman, Grace Ogden, was charged with two counts of felony aggravated cruelty to animals and 42 counts of misdemeanor cruelty. Authorities confiscated 44 cats and one dog from a Columbia Street residence. |
