Housing tax credit approved for Monticello apartments

MONTICELLO – A total of $1.2 million in state housing tax credits have been approved to renovate 229 rental units on Perry Lane in Monticello.

Senator John Bonacic, chairman of the Senate Housing Committee, announced the credit, which came at the request of Thompson Town Supervisor Anthony Cellini to assist Monticello residents.

“We need to invest in existing and new affordable housing to keep our communities stable and diverse,” said Bonacic.

The rental units to be updated were built over 30 years ago originally for hotel workers and are in need of renovation from the ground up, said Bonacic. The work will include new roofing, siding and appliance. Security cameras will be installed along with a computer lab and laundry facilities.
