| Town court to add metal detector |
|
LAGRANGE – LaGrange Town Justice Court is going to add a metal detector for security purposes after the New York State Office of Court Administration recommended the device and offered to fund it. The state agency conducted a security review of the facility and suggested installation of the device. Dutchess County Sheriff’s deputies have been hired by the town to conduct searches of all persons entering the courtroom. No weapons of any kind will be allowed in the facility, said Town Supervisor Jon Wagner. Court sessions have been moved to 4 p.m. on Tuesdays to eliminate overcrowding and parking problems at Town Hall. Effective Tuesday, July 8, Town Hall will be open on Tuesdays from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. It will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. The entrance to the court will also be changed to the rear door only. Signage will be installed to direct patrons. |
