Alleged rapist indicted

GOSHEN – A man, who is accused of attacking two women, and raping one of them, has been indicted by an Orange County grand jury.

John Turner, 41, of Newburgh, was indicted on a number of charges, said District Attorney Frank Phillips

“He has been charged with two counts of predatory sexual assault, rape in the first degree, kidnapping in the second degree, robbery in the first degree and attempted kidnapping in the second degree, in connection with two separate incidents in Orange County,” Phillips said.

Turner is accused of kidnapping a woman from a Town of Wallkill retail parking lot, forcing her to drive to Hamptonburgh where he sexually assaulted her.

He then fled in the New Windsor area.

A couple of days later, Turner allegedly approached a woman while she walked along railroad tracks in New Windsor and tried to abduct her. She fought him off and fled.
