DENVER - Congressman John Hall of Dover Plains Wednesday joined Michelle Obama and Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America to pack CARE packages for U.S. troops serving overseas. Hall serves as chairman of the House Veterans Affairs Subcommittee on Disability Assistance.

"Regardless of your feelings on the war in Iraq, Americans are united in their support for the brave men and women carrying out their missions overseas," Hall said during the Denver effort. "Today's event wasn't about being a Democrat or Republican; it was about sending a little piece of home to those who have left their families stateside to protect us all. It is critical that we never fail in our commitment to our troops and their families both while they are serving and once they return."

Obama and Hall assembled CARE packages, along with the veterans’ group. They were joined by Michelle Obama's mother Marian Robinson, daughters Malia and Sasha, brother Chris Robinson and Colorado First Lady Jeannie Ritter.

Hall wrote personal notes to the troops and pledged to continue working to ensure they have every resource they need when they return home.
