Jersey murder suspect arrested in Newburgh

NEWBURGH – An Irvington, New Jersey was arrested at mid-morning on Tuesday inside the Mullins Apartments on Walsh Road in the City of Newburgh on a warrant as a fugitive from justice in New Jersey. Eric Stevens, 31, is wanted for murder.

Newburgh City Police were called to the Mullins Apartments on a report of a man entering an apartment with a gun.

Police from the City of Newburgh and Town of New Windsor and Orange County Sheriff’s deputies converged on the scene and a short time later a woman and child left the apartment and it was learned a man and a small child were still inside.

Police made entry and arrested Stevens.

As a result of the investigation, Quincy Howard, 29, of the City of Newburgh, was charged with falsely reporting an incident. He was released pending arraignment at a later date.
