Former Orange County elections commissioner dies


GOSHEN – Former Orange County Elections Commissioner Shirley Jenson has died. The former Goshen resident, who was living in Myrtle Beacon, South Carolina, was 82 at the time of her death on Saturday, March 9.

Jenson served as Republican elections commissioner until her retirement in 1999. She was secretary to the Republican Party for many years and was a delegate in several national conventions.

Jenson was a native of Middletown who graduated from Goshen High School and received an associate’s degree from SUNY Orange.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 14 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Donovan Funeral Home in Goshen. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 15 at St. John the Evangelist Church in Goshen.
