Town of Pine Plains converts street lights to LED

PINE PLAINS – The more than 100 street lights in the Town of Pine Plains have been converted to LED’s and Town Supervisor Darrah Cloud said the benefits are many.

They will save the town money as well as protect the environment, she said.

“The idea is that it has cost us $18,000 replace the 120-125 lights and each year we will save approximately $5,000 in electricity by doing so in three-years-and-a-third, we will have paid for it,” Cloud said.

LEDs are easier on the eyes and environment and as part of the conversion, Central Hudson will maintain the lights, which can last for decades.
