Deputy New Paltz mayor not running for Ulster exec

NEW PALTZ – Despite being encouraged to run for Ulster County executive, Deputy New Paltz Mayor KT Tobin said Tuesday that given her current personal, work and political commitments, “now is not the time for me to do so.”

Instead, she said she will work hard to elect the best Democratic candidate.

“Our next county executive needs to focus on the high cost of living here that results in way too many people living paycheck to paycheck,” Tobin said.

She noted that according to United Way, four in 10 Ulster County households are hard pressed to make ends meet, and Black, Hispanic, and single parent families are far more likely to be living with this precarious financial situation.”

Tobin said affordability, taxation, programs, services and infrastructure provided by the county must also be addressed.
