Mahopac man sentenced in gunpoint robbery

WHITE PLAINS – A Mahopac man was sentenced in Westchester County Court to two concurrent sentences of 10 years in state prison and five years of post-release supervision for an attempted armed robbery at a New Rochelle drug store in July 2018.

Last October, Brian Dias, 31, pled guilty to the felonies of attempted robbery and criminal possession of a weapon.

His co-defendant, Tiana Spearmon, 32, pled guilty in October to attempted criminal possession of a weapon as a felony. She will be sentenced in March.

On the afternoon of July 13, 2018, the two drove to Main Street Pharmacy in New Rochelle and while Spearman waited in the car, Dias went inside, put on a black mast and gloves, and pulled out a loaded gun. Dias pointed the weapon at the pharmacist and demanded money. The pharmacist refused and told the gunman to shoot him. No shots were fired.

Dias and Spearmon fled. Their vehicle was captured on video with police able to identify the Georgia license plate and locate them.
