United Way offers 24-hour resource for federal employees during government shutdown

POUGHKEEPSIE – As the government shutdown continues, United Way of Dutchess-Orange Region wants to make sure that federal employees know community resources and services are available to them through their helpline.

“Anyone can dial 2-1-1 to find the help they need, including food pantries, rent assistance, utility coverage and more,” said United Way of Dutchess-Orange President Jeannie Montano. “In New York State, the 2-1-1 helpline is open 24-hours a day, 365 days a year.

She said the helpline is not limited to the government shutdown, but is available for federal employees whenever they may need it.
