Mamakating man found dead; hypothermia, cardiac issues the cause

MAMAKATING – A man was found dead along the side of Larson Road in the Town of Mamakating on Thursday, January 10 and an autopsy determined the cause of death of Stephen Warner, 70, to be hypothermia with contributing cardiac issues.

State Police said Warner was found dead in a ditch along the road. His vehicle was stuck in the lawn on an adjacent property at 17 Larson Road. He lived at 20 Larson.

Investigation revealed the vehicle was running and got stuck in the lawn about 6:30 p.m. on January 9. Warner had injuries consistent with that of a fall and appeared to be in the elements overnight.

No criminal acts were found at the scene, police said.
