Man shot in Poughkeepsie
Police scour the scene for evidence

POUGHKEEPSIE – City Police in Poughkeepsie are investigating the latest act of violence as a man was shot in the leg Wednesday afternoon.

At approximately 2:30 p.m. police 911 received calls reporting shots fired in the vicinity of Smith and Harrison Streets, said Police Captain Richard Wilson.

“When they arrived they found a 19-year-old man lying on the ground next to the vehicle that had been involved in an auto accident,” said Wilson. “He did at the time have what appeared to be a gunshot to the leg. He was transported to a local hospital.”

Wilson said witnesses indicated that a light blue car was seen fleeing the scene and heading south on Smith Street.   He said they are investigating for leads as to who fired the shot.
