One dead in Hyde Park house fire

Cause of the fire in this house still under investigation

HYDE PARK – An early Tuesday morning fire at 12 Farm Lane in the Town of Hyde Park claimed the life of a male resident whose identity was being withheld pending notification of relatives.

First responders were called to the scene at 1:18 a.m.

Police Chief Robert Benson said his officers were joined by Dutchess County Sheriff’s deputies, who gained entry to the house, but were forced to evacuate because of smoke and heat. Hyde Park firefighters were assisted at the scene by the Hyde Park Police Department and the Fairview Fire Department, the latter of which responded with three career firefighters and engine 41-12.

Officials believe the fire originated in the kitchen. The cause is under investigation.
