‘End of an era’ as Beacon business moves to Poughkeepsie

The sign is already on the door. Dash will be going in adjacent to this coffee shop.

BEACON – A long-time Beacon business is pulling up roots and moving the Poughkeepsie.

Dash Lock & Key Service owner Ori Brachfeld said he will relocate the business from 195 Main Street in Beacon to a more centrally located building in Poughkeepsie.

In what Brachfeld describes as "the end of an era," Dash Lock & Key will be closing its Beacon office in the coming days and moving to 39 Market Street in Poughkeepsie, next to the Bardavon theater.

The locksmith will be in the same building as The Ugly Mug coffee shop.

"It has been our pleasure to be a part of the Beacon community as well as playing an integral role in the renaissance that Beacon is experiencing," said Brachfeld, who noted that he is actively seeking space in Beacon to house a satellite location for Dash Lock & Key.

The new space in Poughkeepsie will be serving as a full service locksmith service, including key cutting.

Brachfeld said that the decision to move did not come easily and pointed out that "the face of Main Street in Beacon has changed, lending itself more to retail, foodservice, hospitality, the arts and businesses that rely on tourism."

The locksmith reinforced the fact that both he and his employees that live in the Beacon area will still be active in the community while providing the entire Hudson Valley with their services.
