Car strikes person walking in roadway near Marist

TOWN OF POUGHKEEPSIE – No one was seriously injured when a vehicle traveling on North Road near Marist College struck a Hyde Park resident who was on the roadway.

Poughkeepsie Town Police did not release the identities of the driver or the pedestrian but said the 61-year-old Poughkeepsie resident who was walking on the road, not in a crosswalk, did not sustain life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital. The driver was not hurt.

Northbound traffic on North Road was closed for some three hours while crash investigators processed the scene.

Poughkeepsie Town Police were assisted by the Fairview Fire Department.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to call the Poughkeepsie Town Police Traffic Enforcement Unit at 845-485-3680.
