Rosendale man arrested with grow operation, 12 pounds of pot

ROSENDALE – A Rosendale man is under arrest following an investigation stemming from a chimney fire at 359 Main Street in the Town of Rosendale.

The Rosendale Fire Department was called to the scene around 6:30 in the morning on Sunday, January 6. The fire was extinguished with no damage to the home and no injuries reported.

The resident, Vance Riley, had called the alarm in.

While in the residence, firefighters located an indoor marijuana growing and processing operation and notified Rosendale Police, the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office and investigators from the Ulster Regional Gang Enforcement Narcotics Team. A warrant search yielded about 12 pounds of marijuana, a rifle, shotgun, peripheral equipment for growing marijuana, packaging material and records. The street value of the pot is estimated at $10,000.

Riley was sent to the Ulster County Jail without bail pending a future court appearance.
