Hendry joins Orange County Surrogate Court race

PORT JERVIS – The second Republican to enter the race for Orange County Surrogate Court judge in a matter of days is Port Jervis City Court Judge James Hendry.

Late last week, Wawayanda Town Justice Timothy McElduff announced his candidacy for the GOP line.

Hendry believes he is the best candidate for the job being vacated by Judge Robert Onofry, who must step down at the end of the year because of his age.

“Judge Onofry is widely respected and one of the best judges who ever sat over in Goshen,” Hendry said. “It’s my opinion that I have the background to fill those shoes based on my practice and my courtroom experience.”

To date, no Democrat has announced.
