Pedestrian fatality remains under investigation in Greene County

TOWN OF CAIRO – The Greene County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate an incident in which they believe a woman walked in front of a car and was killed.

Police said around 6 p.m. on Thursday, January 3, a vehicle driven by a 35-year-old Cairo woman was on Main Street in Cairo when Darla Vincent, 67, of Catskill walked out into the road in front of it. She was struck and died at the scene.

Investigators said it does not appear that drugs and alcohol were factors in the accident.

The Greene County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Cairo Police, State Police, Cairo Fire Department and Ambulance corps and Greene County EMS.
