Port Jervis residents arrested on heroin possession charges


PORT JERVIS – Two Port Jervis residents were arrested on drug charges Friday after police executed a no-knock search warrant at an apartment at 103 Ball Street in Port Jervis.

Officers arrested two residents of the apartment, Roberto Sanchez, 48, and Billie Jo Bensley, 38.  A quantity of heroin was seized from the apartment.

Sanchez was charged with felony criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell and misdemeanors of drug possession and endangering the welfare of a child. He was sent to the Orange County Jail without bail.

Bensley was charged with misdemeanor drug possession and endangering the welfare of a child and was committed to the county jail in lieu of $750 bail.

Orange County Child Protective Services assisted Port Jervis Police and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office in the investigation. The Orange County District Attorney’s Office is prosecuting the case.
