Philmont man arrested for assault following domestic incident


PHILMONT – State Police arrested a Philmont man on a felony charge of criminal possession of a weapon and other charges following a domestic dispute.

On January 3 police responded to 23 Main Street in Philmont for a welfare check following a partial 911 call was received. Investigation found Joshua Charron, 21, in a domestic dispute and struck the victim with a baseball bat. When the victim tried to call 911, Charron destroyed the phone.

Charron fled, was located a short time later, but resisted as troopers took him into custody. He was charged with assault, criminal possession of a weapon, criminal mischief for preventing an emergency call and resisting arrest. He is in the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.

In October 2014, Charron was charged with felony assault for stabbing another man in the chest.
