Couple arrested for possessing stolen vehicle, loaded gun with child in car

PLATTEKILL – A Thruway traffic stop early on the morning of January 3 resulted in the arrests of two people on charges of criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of stolen property, both as felonies, and endangering the welfare of a child.

When troopers questioned the driver, Jeremy Hudson, 25, of Philadelphia, New York, it was determined the vehicle was stolen out of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Hudson was also charged with vehicle and traffic violations.

Also discovered in the car was a loaded handgun.

Hudson is in the Ulster County Jail, Hudson without bail. His passenger, Marlaina Lucas, 27, of Philadelphia, is held in lieu of $15,000 cash or $30,000 bond.

A 12-year-old girl was also in the car when it was stopped, leading to the child welfare endangerment charge. She was turned over to the care of Child Protective Services.
