Skoufis investigations committee starts its work

ALBANY – State Senator James Skoufis (D, Woodbury) has tasked his Investigations and Government Operations Committee with looking into the operations of industrial development agencies and state economic development grants.

Skoufis wants to root out any corruption that may exist and he said that requires “commitment, stomach, and hunger for truth” to address any concerns.

“This is really about making sure, whether it’s the local level or at the state level, that our public taxpayer funds are being used appropriately. We are going to be passing and introducing a lot of bills that we hope are going to make a real significant difference in the state and on IDA reform,” he said.

Skoufis will release details of those proposals going forward.

One of his first investigative priorities is looking into the cost of pharmaceuticals.
