Man shot in City of Newburgh

NEWBURGH – Police in the City of Newburgh are investigating a man being shot early Friday.

The victim was wounded in the chest while in the area of Johnston and Campbell streets at around 4:25 a.m. He was transported to St Luke’s Cornwall Hospital. His name has not been released.

Police were alerted to the incident by the Shot Spotter program and have activated the “non-fatal shooting task force” consisting of a Newburgh detective, Orange County District Attorney investigator, and a crime analyst.

The federal Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agency and New Windsor Police Department are assisting.
