Tyners agree to drop charges against each other

POUGHKEEPSIE – Former Dutchess County Legislator Joel Tyner and his estranged wife, Laila, have decided to drop charges against each other.

In an email on Tuesday, Tyner said the couple agreed to that in Dutchess County Family Court.

He said, though, that he is still filing for divorce. “Sad,” he wrote.

The divorce case gained notoriety because several women have accused Tyner of sexual harassment and sexual assault, charges he categorically denies.

Tyner’s wife is pregnant. His attorney, Michael Sussman, said Monday that she plans to move back to her home state of Oregon.

The former county legislator who represented Clinton and Rhinebeck, submitted an email to the chairman several days ago in the middle of the night. He submitted the official resignation to the county clerk the following day.
