Overnight storms cause flooding in Sullivan County, problems elsewhere

MID-HUDSON – Heavy overnight rains have caused flooding in areas of Sullivan County.

Just before 4:00 this morning, police reported areas with flooded roads and in once instance, water rose over the top of a bridge, but receded, leaving debris on the roadway.

In Blooming Grove at 4:30 a.m. police reported a tree leaning on utility wires. Ten minutes later in Warwick, police reported a transformer on fire and a tree down.

Sunday night the National Weather Service had said there was the possibility of a tornado in Sullivan County. None has been reported.

A few strong thunderstorms were expected in the Mid-Hudson Valley before dawn with rain tapering off during the day.
