Woman indicted for the murder of young daughter


WHITE PLAINS – A Mamaroneck woman was indicted by a Westchester County grand jury on charges related to the death of her daughter.

Cynthia Arce, 29, is charged with killing Gabriella Boyd, 2, on her bed on April 28..

Police found the child unresponsive. Arce was hiding behind a closed door in an adjacent bedroom.

Officers told her to come out and show her hands, which were behind her back. When she did bring them forward, she had two large knives, one in each hand. She charged at the officers slashing at two of them.

When Tasers failed to subdue her, a third officer shot Arce, ending the confrontation. Two Mamaroneck police officers were injured in the confrontation.

The child was rushed to a local hospital but was pronounced dead.

Arce was indicted on one count of murder and two counts each of attempted aggravated murder, attempted aggravated assault, and assault.
